The Town of Bridgeville, CA – $1.77 million
Every now and again, entire American townships come up for sale on Ebay. In the case of Bridgeville, what was offered was a delightfully quaint 83-acre town boasting a café, a post office, eight houses and the population of 30 people. It had been previously owned by the Lapple family since 1973, who apparently decided it was time for someone else to take charge. The town and all its contents sold for an incredibly reasonable $1.77 million to a developer who said he intended to give the town a makeover. Unfortunately, he figured it was going to be too expensive and time consuming to do so, which is why he then sold the town again shortly afterwards.
